Have you ever found yourself in a crappy low light situation but you still want to shoot a dynamic image? Old photo journalists use the technique called flash and slash to do this.
It's simply a long(ish) exposure with a flash at the end with movement of your camera.
In this way you get a sharp frozen motion and a nice motion blur in the same image.
To use the flash and slash do the following:
- Use rear curtain sync (flash happens at the end of the exposure)
- Low ISO
- High fstop
- Hong(ish) exposure
Happy Shooting!
