Rediscovering my world...Lesson 1

Postby 100282 » Fri Oct 28, 2011 2:19 pm

Here is something I found in my house that I look at everyday and hardly notice its presence. Something that looks so plain, but once you look at it you notice a thing of beauty.

Hi Amanda,

Can you tell me about these two images.

Which one is your beauty shot?

Thanks!

I'm just confused because one of the images is photoshopped...

The beauty shot is the one where you can see the roses. The camera I used caught too much of the roses .When you do look at the cross on the wall it looks almost exactly like the photoshopped picture, hence the reason I photoshoppe it.

Ok. Well you've certainly observed something that is mundane and made it appear more interesting.

I like that you've gotten close to the object and you've shot the photograph from an interesting perspective.

I'd like you to keep working on this one when you get some spare time. Try to continue to find things that aren't that interesting and make them look interesting using your photography. It makes for great practice.

Here are a couple examples:

This is just a mug bug photographing something being dropped into it makes it very interesting:

This is just a christmas ornament but...

A snowy street:

You see how the simplest most mundane things can be made to look visually appealing?!

I will see you on assignment 2.

Thank you!
