I like what you're trying to do here. You've gone out at a good time of day to shoot and you've found an interesting element to photograph, namely that crane.
That said there are some areas for improvement in this image.
First the top half of the frame is blown out. It's too bright to include that sky and the crane in the same photo from that angle.
Moving to the other side could have improved it.
Beyond that the image itself is slightly out of focus from what appears to be camera shake.
Try using a tripod and a shutter release to avoid this.
Alternatively sit your camera down on something stable and use the camera's built in count down timer.
Or you can just use a faster shutter or higher ISO.
Finally given this assignment was about composition you absolutely must NOT cut off or amputate critical elements in your frame. Namely the right edge of the crane.
