Beautiful assignment. Your composition is noticeably improving as you progress through the course. The color control for this photograph is spectacular. You’ve used a gradient of blue, blacks and whites. You’ve chosen to make the sky the larger 2/3rds of your photograph and yet, there is still great detail and purpose in the ground. The lines created by the small waterway and the pier act as interesting shapes that help guide the eye through the photograph and also help create an interesting, asymmetrical pattern on the bottom 1/3rd of the photograph. Overall, I think this photograph is incredibly well done.

I do want to draw your attention to one element of your photograph. Notice how you haven’t used any primary object in this photograph? This means there is no “stopper”: An item or person to hold the viewer’s attention when they are not looking at the secondary objects. You’re photograph is a beautiful landscape, but my eye wanders around the photograph without stopping. It’s not necessarily wrong what you’ve done, but I just want you to be aware of it because audiences interact differently to photographs that have primary objects, versus ones that don’t. In the end it’s up to you how you compose each shot, but it’s important to be aware of these design differences.

Great work!
