Great work!
This was a technical assignment that was intended to expose you to the world of hardware accessories for a camera. As you can tell, there are great enhancements to be made with the use of filters.
Using your polarizing filter you were able to make your greens jump out at the viewer. In the first shot the greens were more pastel and light. They have a de-saturated look to them. However, with the use of a filter you were able to achieve a higher contrast, higher saturation look to the image. Great work.
From a composition standpoint however, I feel this image is a little too centered. I would have like to see a less formal sense of balance by changing the position of your main object away from the center. This can help you spice up a composition.
Also, be careful of the 4 walls of your image. You’ve amputated (i.e. cut off) part of the tree on the right with the right wall of the photograph. The top frame is good, the bottom frame is good, the left frame is good as well (the amputation there looks intentional). However, because it’s such a small sliver you’ve cut off, and the tree is one of your primary objects, I find that amputation more distracting.
Other than that, great work. I look forward to seeing your next assignment.
