Wow!

I must say this is your strongest piece yet! Congratulations. Many of the issues discussed in your previous assignments have been fixed with this image. A few things jump out at me right away from a stylistic standpoint.

1. your use of lines, not only in your primary object, but also as subtle details really shows your understanding of your environment. Specifically I’m referring to the small line of rocks in front of the church. This acts as a leading line drawing your audience into the frame. It also helps provide a sense of depth and it breaks up the predominance of vertical and horizontal lines.

2. Your walls are free of distracting amputations. Great work!

3. You’re working with a simplified color palette with your monochromatic image. Yet, you’ve still managed to work with a wide tonal range (to be discussed in your lecture on black and white photography). This ensures the image is dramatic.

4. The overall framing and balance of the shot is wonderful.
