I really like the idea for this image and it holds a lot of potential, but it’s not a strong as your previous composition for technical reasons.

For starters, your image has soft focus. It’s not as noticeable when the image is small, but when you enlarge the photograph the entire image is slightly out of focus. It’s mostly noticeable around the grasshopper because it appears it was moving slightly when you took this image.

The reason I bring this up is because one day you’ll want to enlarge your images and technical details such as focus will be increasingly important. If your camera has an “expand focus” feature, try using that to get your focus first before you take the photograph.

I like the composition, I like the colors and I like the idea of getting in deep within the grass into an entirely new world of insects, but without strong technical features, even the most creative images will be wasted.

Another thing you might want to consider is using a lower ISO speed. Right now your image has a lot of “noise” in it (i.e. grain). By using a lower ISO speed (such as 50, 100 or 200) you’ll notice substantially less noise in your images. Higher ISO speeds such as 800 or above usually result in grain.

Other than that, great work!
