You’ve done a great job with this technical assignment. With the first image you’ve isolated your foreground subjects away from the background by using a shallow depth of field. Not only does this make background amputation less distracting but it also pulls our focus to your main area of interest. Great work.
Your second image has a very strong composition. It’s undoubtedly the strongest image of the three. You’ve used a simplified color palette of gradients of blue with white highlights. You’ve also used line as a primary design elements helping draw your audiences eyes into the composition. The line coming in from the bottom right corner is called a “leading line”. You’ll often see them in landscape and cityscape shots. They not only provide a great design element, but they also help direct your viewer’s attention. The way the line cuts through the image also creates strong triangular shapes in your composition. Triangular shapes are sharp and therefore dramatic and loud. Great work.
Another design element I love about this image is your use of negative space. The dark blue sky and the dark grey foreground help bracket your bright middle-ground without giving your audience too much information. Your image is impressive because you use such a wide space, yet the space is still easy to navigate. Excellent work with this shot.
The last shot is also well done, but it still suffers from soft focus on the main object. As I’m sure you’re aware, capturing moving objects is not a simple task. That being said, your in the right direction. A little more precision is needed with this type of work through.
