This is exactly what we wanted to see you accomplish with this assignment. We wanted you to edit a photograph with subtle effects. Our hope was that you didn’t over stylize the image. It’s easy to go overboard with effects like contrast, color, and artistic effects. It was important to us that you discover how to enhance a photograph without making the image look like an animation or a cartoon. You’ve done a great job of maintaining the integrity of the original, while enhancing some of the important details like teeth, skin and eyes.

Our attention is immediately drawn towards the eyes of a portrait. The eyes are arguably the most important part of any portrait. It’s impressive that you so realistically edited this element of the photograph.

Most importantly however was your ability to successfully edit the skin of your subject. In the unedited version your subjects have slightly shiny skin. This is generally considered undesirable in photography. Usually makeup artists are hired to hide “shine”. The fact that you softened the shine in the photograph without using a makeup artist is fantastic. You’ve done such a great job editing this photograph. Congratulations!
