It seems that you have understood both elements of this assignment and you have demonstrated that here with your images.

In your image of the motion blur you have shown that you understand motion although you have your camera set on aperture priority. For this type of thing I find it easier to shoot using shutter priority but you can really do it either way.

In your image of the stick you have shown that you understand shallow depth of field. Notice how you’ve taken the viewer’s eye and forced it to look at what you want it to look at. The reason this technique often works is because this mirrors how our eyes work. Your eyes and your brain automatically do this.

My only minor note here would be for you to try to create images when you go through the assignment that you will enjoy having in your portfolio.

It’s hard to learn technique and take photos you’re happy with but this is what I try to get the students who work their way through the course to do.

In other words I want you to be proud of your images when you finsh. One little thing to have in the back of your mind is whether or not you’d put the image on your wall. But this isn’t a strict rule it’s just a guide for you.
