Masters of Photography - Julia Margaret Cameron
Julia Margaret Cameron 11 June 1815 – 26 January 1879 was a British photographer. She was known for her portraits of celebrities of the time, and for photographs with Arthurian and other legendary or heroic themes. Unfortunately Cameron's photographic career was short, spanning just 11 years of her life (1864–1875). Julia undertook photography at the late age of 48 after being given a camera as a gift. Interestingly here style was not widely appreciated during her life. Although her work has had an huge impact on modern photographers. Her tightly cropped portraits in particular have had an influence on more modern photographers. Her house, Dimbola Lodge, on the Isle of Wight is open to the public and is worth visiting.
