ParticipantI find that I love many photographs and photographers from the amateur eye to the more experienced one. I can find beauty in almost any photograph I see and I hope to be able to at least achieve a qaurter of what I enjoy in others works in my own ,in time.
I love to see ‘realness’ of people and objects brought to life. I like to look at a picture and even if I wasn’t there ,to feel as if I were and sort of daydream about that certain situation as pictured and come to my own conclusions.
I do have a few favorite photographers and photojournalists.
I love, love ,love, photo journalist , Allan Tannenbaum and his works of New York City in the 1970’s,particularly ,I will provide a link below ,and hope that if you haven’t heard of him that one will take the time to review all of these pictures . One of my favorite photographs of Mr. Tannebaum’s was of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. He captured them so well ,you can actually see the real people and the joy they had for each other at this time.
He showed the raw grittiness of New York City in the 1970‘s,and captured it so well that if you weren’t there you can actually feel the tenseness in the air and see the angst on peoples faces. He captured the glamorous and not so glamorous life of the club scene. I am moved by all of his photographs.
I do also love Annie Leibowitz as I am sure many do .I have a particular picture I have always loved of whoopi Goldberg she took back in the 1980’s which always makes me laugh. She is a comedian and the setting suits her well ,which I find that Annie Leibowitz can do so well. I will attach that link at the end also.
Another whom I have so much love and respect for is the late and great Kevyn Aucoin. Saying he was just a makeup artist is so very understated. He was also a photographer . He could not only transform an already beautiful woman into something even more beautiful and photograph it as well. My favorite is a photograph of Calista Flockhart turned into Audrey Hepburn and Gwyneth Paltrow as James dean.Links (which I hope can be viewed)
