This is a beautiful photograph. In my opinion, it’s your best yet! Congratulations. You’ve done so many things right with this photograph. Let me begin by pointing out the photograph’s highlights.

For starters you’ve layered your landscape photograph. Too many photographers take “flat” looking landscape photographs. By neglecting a foreground and middle ground your photographs will look less dynamic and interesting unless you can use colors or shape to spice them up. However, by using a foreground and middle ground you give your audience the feeling of being in the photograph with you. It also provides lines from them to follow to help them “enter” the photograph and it gives them various resting places for their eye once they have entered the photo.

One of the most impressive features of this photograph is it’s textures and color organization. It is sometimes difficult to organize wide shots like this because you need to take a lot of things into consideration. However, you’ve used only a few colors (grays, blues and a nice orange highlight in the mountain) to give this photograph a simple, yet visually pleasing look.

This is a very impressive photograph. I look forward to seeing your next assignment.
