The main goal of this assignment was to get you thinking about, and using filters in your photography.
The model for this shoot looks to be quite the heavyweight!
Did you shoot with physical filters or we’re the filters applied after in post? We hope this was done in camera. It’s often hard to distinguish these days.
For your black and white image you’ll immediately notice just how harsh and raw this image feels. The contrast of a filter like this often eliminates details in the darker areas. Have a look at the subject’s jeans for example.
It’s interesting to note that it’s possible to see much more detail in the background.
Using a sepia filter immediately creates a warmer and more relaxed image. Sometimes it’s handy to use a sepia filter to give an image a vintage look but in this case it works well to establish a calmer tone.
The Frame/Border on the image is also a nice touch.
Having good filters and using them effectively will often take a photographer to the next level.
