in the discripton of this assignment it mentioned to think of a day dream. i being 23 years old and not being able to swim always makes me feel selfconsious. i always had a fear of deep water. so in this picture is of my neice doing the “dead man’s float” for some strange reason i always have dreams where i’m trying to learn to swim and i end up drowning.

I really like this photograph a lot. I think it has a lot of potential. You’ve done so many things right, from the composition, to color simplicity to using negative space as a photographic enhancer.

The main concern I have with this photograph is that you’ve amputated your main subject. In previous photographs you’ve amputated your secondary objects (which I pointed out needed to be corrected), but even amputating your secondary objects is less distracting than cutting off parts of your main subject with one of the walls of your photograph.

Your assignment from lesson 5 is a great example of what you’re capable of when it comes to photographic composition without cutting off any important parts. You seem to have no problem with this when the photograph is close up, but it seems you find it more challenging when you are trying to incorporate more objects into your photograph.

This is one of the most challenging tasks as a photographer: organising chaos. However, I feel in this picture, it was due to a focus on the main subject and not on the 4 walls of the photograph.

If you can work on the areas on the 4 walls of your photograph I think you’ll become increasing impressed with your work! You’re almost there! I look forward to seeing your next assignments.
